Beware Bali is a shopaholic's paradise. Apart from the numerous handicraft and "shorts and T-shirt" shops Bali has moved on. There are many internationally licenced franchises (Polo, Armani etc.) at much lower prices than at home.

The greatest concentration is at the rather scruffy Kuta Square near the Hard Rock Café but it's okay for a visit. Antiques and primitive art are still good buying and there's even a shop selling old brass divers helmets, telescopes, etc. Several new interior design shops offer a range of quite different and stylish items.
