Bali
is world-renowned for its spectacular sunsets. This shot was
taken right outside the villa on Legian Beach.
The
best night life is again only a stone's throw from Puri Indah,
and tends to start late - around 11 pm.
A beginner's
tour could start at either Goa 2001 or Café Luna for a spot
of really excellent people watching - or on a Friday or Saturday
the live music at the air-conditioned Jaya Pub - all within
50 m of each other. If you tire of this or it gets too much
another 200 m or so brings you to the newly trendy Dhynapura
street lined with bars and restaurants either working or failing.
Start
at the A Bar, great cocktails based around Absolute Vodka
- probably standing room only but again excellent people watching.
The Q Bar is a new hang out for gays and the recently renovated
Santa Fe is a good standby. They serve draft beer, which is
not easy to find, have reasonable espresso and all hours pizza
in case of a hunger attack. A good place to cruise down for
a while. If you really feel the need to go for broke (we are
talking 2 am now) there is always Club Double Six (66) on
the way home. It's a noisy open-air disco swarming with substance
abusers and prostitutes of both sexes, and yes, some good
old fashioned drunks too!
